Say Hello

Yep, we're back. I wanted to get the site up for the start of the new year - so here it is.

Happy New Year!

As you can plainly see there is still a lot of work to do. I've been off all week and I was hoping to be a bit further along but you know how it goes.

I'm happy with the look of the new site so now I just need to start moving things over from the old site. I have all of the old information so don't fret if you don't see it for awhile. While moving over the old information I end up proofreading everything and it takes awhile. If there is something in particular that you want to see then let me know because I am just working my way through what I think is most important.

Most of you are probably getting ready for the party tonight and I have just broken out the booze and pretzels so it might get crazy.

I will keep you abreast of the changes, however slight they may be, from time to time and hopefully it won't take too long to bring it all back online.

I hope you all enjoy this new website. All the best to you and yours in the new year and we'll see each other on the racecourse.

Rick

Message from the President

Welcome all, to the 2006 Kirby 25 Class. We have a great year ahead and if each one of us puts in a little effort this will guarantee a phenomenal year in the Kirby 25 Class.

Last year proved to be a great year with momentum growing in the class. If you attended last years FBYC North Americans Regatta, you probably received an awesome Kirby 25 NA’s Mount Gay Hat and Mount Gay shirts were also available. Mount Gay Rum sponsored the Kirby 25 class last year and we thanked them by having a free Mount Gay rum party for all Kirby racers. We had two boats from Nepean travel to the North Americans along with 3 boats from DYC and 1 from Barrie. This shows that people are already putting in the effort. We are currently getting between 6 and 9 boats at all regattas. Barrie Yacht Club has grown to 5 Kirbys with rumor that 5th is owned by Hugh Beaton of North Sails Toronto. This will be a great addition to our class. Nepean has 6 boats, FBYC 2 boats racing, Barrie with 5 boats and DYC with 6 boats. This sums up to 19 boats that are race ready. There are a few others which might appear.

Developing the 2006 Regatta Schedule is priority #1. With input and commitment from everyone it is very possible to get 15 boats at some of these regattas. This could be a Kirby 25 revolution. Barrie Yacht Club would also like to host a regatta September 16/17. More info to come!

I would like to thank Rick Dorrington from E2 for the new Website as this is a thankless job of maintaining it and keeping it fresh. He has told that new format will be easier to update and maintain. The website is the glue and the lifeline to class development. We could not have a better man on the job - thanks Rick!

If anyone can get a company or corporate sponsor for the Class, please contact me (paul.haynes@sympatico.ca) as we are looking at new awards, class paraphernalia and more rum for regattas.

Skippers, make sure you organize a winter get together with your crew to talk about regatta participation. This will allow them to organize themselves for the regatta weekends.

Happy New Year and Cheers,

Paul Haynes
Kirby 25 Class President

Sold - #106 - Barrie

Well, it's official news now.

Hull #106, 40 Yard Bin has been purchased by Pat Wachholz and Hugh Beaton.

The boat has been picked up from the East coast and is now at the Barrie Yacht Club.

Flaming Redhead

Rodger Welch from Deep Cove Yacht Club in North Vancouver, British Columbia sent us these great pictures of his boat, Flaming Redhead.

The Kirby 25 Class site is great, keep up the good work.

Attached are a couple of pictures of Flaming Redhead for the site. She's hull No.41 racing out of Deep Cove BC. I bought Hi Octane from Derek Wilder in Naniamo and renamed her Flaming Redhead.

Regards,

Rodger Welch
